Gym environments never really motivated me and I always felt I didn't quite 'fit in' at the classes I tried. I'm not sure if it was my ADHD or a lack of self-confidence but I felt that everyone else knew what they were doing and I was hiding at the back, struggling to 'keep up'
I teach Pilates the way I prefer to learn -  in a small friendly group environment with patience and compassion. 
The fundamentals of Pilates emphasise the importance of listening to your own body and progressing safely at a level that is suitable to you. 
Each movement can be broken down and executed differently from one person to the next -  that's the beauty of Pilates!

My Story

​

I have always had a passion for health and wellbeing. I began my career as a qualified Staff nurse, then studied a degree in Community Nursing to go on to work as a Health Visitor. Having taken time off to have my beautiful twin daughters I was ready for a new challenge. During this time, I discovered a love for exercise, mostly running, I found it a good way to de-stress and would always feel much better afterwards. It really helped me cope with the physical and mental demands of being a busy mum. I felt inspired to start a career in Personal Training so that I could help motivate others to feel the benefits of regular exercise. 


I completed a Diploma in Personal Training, then a further Diploma in Exercise Referral to enable me to work with clients with existing medical conditions. I set up my own business and began working with clients, mostly one to ones, from my own private studio.

Introduction to Pilates


​

Pilates brings together mind and body, focusing strongly on total concentration, balance, precision and breathing. The slow controlled flowing movements primarily strengthen the ‘core’ muscles that stabilise and support the spine, realign the body and help correct postural problems. Pilates is designed for all abilities, from complete beginners through to advanced.

This workshop is about women coming together as individuals, embracing our imperfections and developing our strengths!

 

A safe & supportive space for women to remember how to self-care, through mindful movement, stillness, connection & self-reflection.

The workshops are designed for absolute beginners and run for an hour each week, for 5 weeks—no equipment is needed.

My Studio

I have my own private air-conditioned studio in the Kirkella area of Hull. It is relaxed and welcoming and provides an ideal escape for both Pilates and Reiki. The studio is perfect for private sessions and small groups. You can have the mood, temperature and music to suit your own taste. Whether you decide on an upbeat motivating morning routine or a nice way to relax and unwind at the end of the day, this space will complement your own personal goals.

Reiki

What is Reiki - Reiki pronounced ‘Ray-key’ is a Japanese word. Rei means ‘universal wisdom’ and ki means ‘life energy’ Reiki is therefore vital life energy by universal wisdom. Reiki activates the natural healing processes of the body and helps restore physical and emotional well-being, and can be an effective system for stress relief. Reiki is a complementary therapy that works well with other complementary and alternative therapies and can be used alongside conventional medicines. It is a safe, gentle, non -intrusive energy healing technique. Reiki is universal and is not connected to any religion or belief system.
